The free instructions on this page have not been updated but they can still be used just fine; they are the dimensions we used to build the stand for our wedding.

The "updated" instructions available for purchase in our online shops have new dimensions we decided on just to standardize the project but that doesn't necessarily mean the dimensions are any better or worse than what is listed in this post; you could honestly adjust the dimensions as you need for your own project.

I've had lots of brides have success using this post to build their stands but if you are overly concerned you might consider purchasing the more detailed instructions which have step by step photos too.

Good luck with your project!

Hi Josie!

We have made a smaller version with 3 tiers and it weighed about 50 lbs. The Giant Stand in the post weighed about 100 lbs.

Hope that helps!

Hi there,
Great idea!! We are going to attempt to make this, but a smaller version of the one posted. I was just wondering approximately how much this might weigh? Thanks for the idea, I'll post a picture of the finished project.

August:

The couplings are used as sort of the skeleton...they act as a spacer in between the boards and the layers. So, you will have the bottom board, internal (unseen) coupling, top board, spacer coupling (which can be seen in between the layers), board...so on and so forth. Hope that helps!

My husband just made this for our wedding and we got great reviews. We changed a couple things but it looks similar. How can I post a picture of it on the website?
