The "updated" instructions available for purchase in our online shops have new dimensions we decided on just to standardize the project but that doesn't necessarily mean the dimensions are any better or worse than what is listed in this post; you could honestly adjust the dimensions as you need for your own project. I've had lots of brides have success using this post to build their stands but if you are overly concerned you might consider purchasing the more detailed instructions which have step by step photos too.
